The End of the Road

26 Jul

The day before J~ headed home, we went on a date. Our goal was to find the end of the road.

Juneau is sandwiched between a mountain range and the Gastineau Channel. The Road (as the locals call it) runs about 7 miles south of downtown Juneau to 40 miles north of downtown. We took my uncles Mini for the drive. Its a fun little car.

We found the end of the road & hiked down a trail to the bay. We got most of the way there when we spotted fresh bear scat. Now, I like the idea of seeing a bear, but when faced with the reality, I got a little freaked out. We hiked back up to the car with me clapping the entire time. I’m sure there was a bear in the woods laughing away.

We drove back towards town, had some lunch & then crossed the channel to Douglas Island to find the end of their road.

Found it!
