Day 9

11 Jul

A couple of weeks before we left we had an email newsletter from a missionary we support who works in T~’s province in Vietnam.  He & his family were on furlough & he would be spending the month traveling to various churches.  As luck would have it, he would be in Richmond VA the same weekend we were going to be in Williamsburg, a 45 minute drive.  We jumped at the chance to talk to him about what he does in Phu Tho & made plans to hear him preach & meet him & his family for lunch after church.

We were all exhausted from our ER Adventure but this was not something we were going to miss.  We left the hotel early & made it to Bible Study & heard about a new project that has grown from his work.  We heard a great sermon on priorities & then headed to a McDonald’s so the kids could play while the adults talked.  It was well over 100° that day so the original plan of meeting at a park wasn’t a good option.

It was so interesting to hear about all the things JP does.  There’s the biogas project, the work in schools & orphanages, there’s the Cow Bank, the English teaching volunteers, & of course, the relationship building.  J~ & I were so happy to learn more about the place T~ is from & be able to have more info to share with her.  And we also made new friends.  Can’t beat that for a Sunday afternoon!

After our long lunch, we headed West.  I can’t tell you where we stayed, someplace in western Virginia.  We swam.  We ate. And we planned our next day’s adventure.

That highway hotel is going to become my secret lair when I get my superhero cape.
