A Great Kid’s Camera

28 Jul

G~ has been saving his money for a camera.  He had his eye on the Fisher Price camera but when it came time to buy it, I thought the camera seemed a little young for him.  He’s used one at a friends house & the screen on the back is so small & grainy it’s hard to tell what you just took a picture of.  I liked the idea of it being ‘kid proof’ but G~ is also at the age where he knows better than to drop a camera over & over again.  That doesn’t mean he’s not clumsy though, so I thought it best to find a camera than could withstand a few ‘accidents’.  I did a little research, looking for a camera for the “Too old for the Fisher Price, but too young for a ‘cheap’ digital camera” age bracket & found The Argus Bean.

Argus Bean

Isn't it cute?

G~ has the 3.2 megapixel camera.  It has a 1.5″ LCD Display, a flash, an SD card slot, black & white & sepia settings, & it even takes videos.  The price was nice too.  It retails for about $45 but I found it on eBay for $30.  I could handle if he broke the Bean much better than if he broke a supposedly kid tough $60 camera.

G~ loves it.  E~ was green with envy.  I like everything about the camera except for the shutter speed.  It’s REALLY slow, making for some blurry pictures.  Once G~ got the hang of not moving until he heard the beep, most of his pictures turned out great.

Here’s a sample of G~’s pictures.

I’m really impressed with G~’s little camera & if your kids have graduated from the Fisher Price camera, this is a great next step.
