One Year Ago…

19 Jan

On Jan. 19, 2007, 6 week old TTN & her orphanage sisters took a precarious trip from their little orphanage in Viet Tri to the French Hospital in Hanoi. She probably rode the 2-3 hours, one way, in the back seat of a taxi with a nanny or two (for about 9 babies). This isn’t a nice trip. Tons of traffic, lots of bumps, & near accidents, plus none of the babies would be in car seats. Here’s a taste of traffic on the road from Viet Tri. What you’re not seeing is the big trucks & buses coming at you head on. Fun times.

This trip to the hospital was the last step T~ needed to take in order to be free for adoption. While she was being poked & prodded, we were making our decision whether or not to take a referral from the new, more expensive province, or wait for an uncertain amount of time for a referral from the original provinces. Of course we think we made the correct decision. Not only is T~ meant to be our daughter, but we’d still be waiting. Our agency still hasn’t had a referral from their older provinces. Here is a picture of T~ taken during her medical evaluation.

From an itty, bitty baby to a little girl, racing towards toddlerhood. Amazing.
